This fourth volume of the catalogue raisonné of Serge Charchoune (1888-1975) covers the years 1951-1960. This decade introduces two themes in Charchoune's work, music and water, which will haunt him until his last days, crossing, interpenetrating, merging.
Charchoune, who was utterly destitute, allowed himself one only luxury, the purchasing of a small radio, he always had near his easel. He listened to Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Bach, and his works pay homage to these composers.
