Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 30 November 2016 - 24 April 2017
Acclaimed as one of the greatest painters of the second half of the twentieth century, Cy Twombly (1928-2011) reconnects the legacy of American abstract expressionism with the origins of Western classical painting. He accords paramount importance to the cycles and series in which he reinvents in his way, the great history of painting.
This exhibition catalogue traces the amazing journey and career of the artist, from his early work marked by primitive arts, graffiti and writing, until his last monumental paintings. Unpublished documents of archives highlight the extraordinary personality of Cy Twombly.
