Christian Dior gave to the feminine silhouettes a new elegance in gloomy post-war Paris. The fashion designer was surrounded by two decorators: Georges Geoffroy and Victor Grandpierre. Drawing on 18th century, French Empire and Belle Epoque decorative arts, they created luxurious and modern interiors for the designer and for numerous international personalities.
This book studies the story of these three great figures who marked the destiny of haute couture and interior decoration, from the Maison Dior avenue Montaigne to Dior's Provençal "bastide", through the apartments of Hélène and Marcel Rochas, Gloria Guiness, or the Rothschilds' house in Chantilly.
