The production of Abraham Nicolas Couleur (1716-1812) in Montbéliard is emblematic of French provincial cabinetmaking. It reminds of the origins both Germanic and Protestant of the cabinetmakers of the faubourg Saint-Antoine, and strongly marks its independence regarding Paris. It can be ranked among famous craftsmen as the Haches in Grenoble, the Demoulins in Dole and Dijon, Tairraz in Lyon or Besse in Avignon.
This book was conceived scientifically, aiming to settle objective attribution criteria for French provincial cabinetmaking.
