Alsace-born painter Léon Lehmann (1873-1953) studied in the Beaux-Arts in Paris in Gustave Moreau's workshop, where he met Matisse, Marquet, Manguin and Rouault. He became known there notably for his paintings of soldiers which he followed in their military exercises. His sensibility led him to indoor scenes, still life and landscapes in which he combined rare shades to coloured glows. He exhibited in several famous galleries: Berthe Weill, Druet, Blot, Vendôme, Bernheim-Jeune, Beyeler, Durand-Ruel, Lorenceau et Katia Granoff.
This book is the second edition of catalogue raisonné of Lehmann's painting, first published in 1993.
