Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 14 May - 22 September 2014
Famous for the iconic works of his Pop period, Martial Raysse (1936) multiplied innovations, notably through the unseen-before use of neon and films in his paintings. During the 1980s, he broke away from his artistic practice and began to radically revise painting and sculpture, experiencing continuously, until his most recent works; some of then have never being shown yet.
Gathering more than 200 works - paintings, sculptures, films, photographs and drawings - this catalogue of the Centre Pompidou retrospective offers for the first time a journey through fifty years of creation. From the 1960s until today, it shows emblematic works for each period through Martial Raysse's career.
