Exhibition at the Fondation Pierre Gianadda, Martigny, 4 December 2015 - 12 June 2016.
The Fondation Pierre Gianadda presents, for this first retrospective in Switzerland, around fifty canvas and thirty works on paper by Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013), among them a selection of emblematic large-format oil-paintings and an extensive series, voluntarily limited to black & white, of large ink wash paintings on paper which underline the bridge created by the artist between East and West. The works come from European and Asiatic private collections.
The exhibition catalogue develops the different stages of the painter's chromatic and bright practice during sixty years, from his first figurative period to his abstract developments.
