In 1777, Queen Marie-Antoinette commissioned a real jewel in the Château de Fontainebleau: the Turkish boudoir, in which the most extravagant Turqueries were installed. At the beginning of the 19th century, Empress Joséphine settled in the boudoir, giving it a new brilliance with sumptuous and atypical furnishings.

After a careful restoration, the gracious sculpted, painted and golden panels of Marie-Antoinette's boudoir have once again become home for Joséphine's luxury furniture.

This book unveils the refinement of the Turkish boudoir, only décor of that kind kept in France, and the exceptional furniture created for Joséphine.
