Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Besançon, Suzanne Belperron (1900-1983) was hired in 1921 by the Maison Boivin where she spent 10 years. In 1932, she entered into partnership with Bernard Herz, famous pearl dealer, who gave her an entire artistic freedom. Her jewels, full of elegancy and fascination, seduced socialites, actresses and prominent personalities. After Word War II, Belperron created, with Bernard Herz's son, Jean, the Société Jean Herz - Suzanne Belperron, which flourished until the end, in 1975. Suzanne Belperron's jewels are nowadays republished, while the originals are searched for and very rare on the market.
This book, realized thanks to the recent rediscovery of Suzanne Belperron's archives, is the first monograph devoted to this artist, pioneer of modern jewellery.
