Exhibition at the Musée d'Unterlinden, Colmar, 10 June - 29 October 2018
Since his first reversed motifs in 1969, Baselitz (1938-) has multiplied the representation of his body. Today he is confronting the reality of his age and the passage of time. In this introspective work, he calls upon his masters (Duchamp, Dix, de Kooning, Picasso), his old paintings and his memories.
In this catalogue of the exhibition organised on the occasion of Baselitz's 80th birthday, essays accompanied by reproductions of a previously unpublished set of paintings, watercolours, drawings and sculptures executed between 2014 and 2018 pay tribute to the powerful work of one of the most important artists of our time.
