This book is published on the occasion of the restoration of the Cabinet d'Angle, the private chamber of the king's inner flat at the Château de Versailles, which began on 11 March 2019.
Initially a "collector's flat" for Louis XIV, the corner cabinet was transformed by Louis XV who, appreciating its intimacy, made it his workplace. Restored to the taste of the reign, the cabinet then benefited from a sumptuous rocaille decoration and the most refined furniture.
It constitutes one of the most beautiful ensembles of French decorative art, which can still be admired today, notably its masterpiece, the famous secrétaire à cylindre by Jean-François Oeben, completed by Jean Henri Riesener in 1769, as well as the candelabra known as "of the American Independence" by Pierre Philippe Thomire, commissioned by Louis XVI.
