Exhibition at the Château de Fontainebleau, 19 October 2013 - 3 February 2014
During the Bayonne interview in 1808, the Spanish king Charles IV offered Napoleon a bronze and hard stone table centrepiece.
Misunderstood at the time, this sumptuous gift was dismantled and transformed by artists of the imperial court into numerous decorative pieces (candelabras, clocks, sculptures).
This exhibition catalogue reconstructs and analyses the ensemble.
