Neglected for most of her career, Irish artist Eileen Gray (1878-1976) is now regarded as one of the most important furniture designers and architects of the early 20th century and the most influential woman in those fields. Mostly known for having introduced lacquer in her Art Deco furniture and for her tubular-structured furniture in the early 1920s, she was rediscovered notably by Andrée Putman. Her work inspired both modernism and Art Deco; her house E-1027, realized in collaboration with Jean Badovici in South of France, is one of her greatest works in modernist architecture.

This book by Peter Adam, close friend of hers, allows him to recount her life and work.
