When the Gien factory elegantly and frenetically adorned itself with all the French and foreign decorations, and thus created its own image, it accomplished a real feat which raised it to the top of the "glory" at the time of the great exhibitions. Two centuries later, this notoriety has enabled it to be considered as a true jewel of French regional heritage and to gradually impose itself on the art market and in the hearts of collectors.
This book retraces the history of the factory, covering its entire production from 1821 to 1900, and revealing, among other things, the still too-ignored world of Gien's barbotines and objets de charme. The whole is completed by a table of marks and signatures which highlights the reputation of the painters of the time and facilitates the identification of the pieces.
