Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 19 October 2022 - 6 March 2023
A major figure in contemporary art and a member of the Arte povera movement, the Piedmontese artist Giuseppe Penone (1947-) is mainly known for his sculptures, but he has always drawn. In 2020 he made a major donation to the Musée national d'art moderne: 328 drawings covering fifty years of creation, from 1967 to 2019.
This catalogue of the exhibition devoted to this donation illustrates the different stages of the artist's thinking, from the preparatory sketch to the drawing after the sculpture.
