The Ingres Bourdelle Museum in Montauban is known for its extraordinary Ingres collection: with more than 4,000 drawings, some forty paintings and the artist's own collections, it offers a unique insight into the creative process of the master and provides the keys to understanding Ingresism, illustrated by the work of his pupils and followers. The museum also boasts another major collection, that of the Montalban sculptor Émile-Antoine Bourdelle, to whom it now owes its double name. But its riches do not stop there: the visitor who crosses its doors discovers remarkable collections of ancient paintings, art objects and archaeology.

Reopened on 14 December 2019, after three years of extensive renovation and the complete redeployment of its collections, the Ingres Bourdelle Museum is now fully asserting its identity. This abundantly illustrated book presents the history of the museum, that of the former bishop's palace whose walls it has slowly conquered, and all the treasures of its collections.
