Colour as light and light as colour - this is the core of Heinz Mack's (1931-) painting. After a long career break, the German artist returned to painting intensively in 1991.
This book offers a selection of "Chromatische Konstellationen" from 1991 to the present day, showing how the artist translates the greatest possible purity of colour, light and immateriality into a broad spectrum of colour sequences and structures. The volume concludes with a personal juxtaposition of his works with works from the history of art, from Duccio to Barnett Newman. In this way, the artist offers a glimpse into his collective pictorial memory.
