At a time when Scandinavian style reigned, the palette of Christian Liaigre (1943-2020) was a revolution. The decorator imposed masculine tones (brown, cream, grey, taupe) and created a style that was both stripped down and luxurious, where the love of beautiful materials and exotic woods was mixed with Art Deco reminiscences and an enlightened use of luxury craftsmanship.
For this book, Christian Liaigre chose eight locations (four of which are in France) that are representative of his current work. Renovating an artist's studio in Paris, decorating a holiday home in Corsica or the triplex of media mogul Rupert Murdoch in New York, fitting out a traditional house in Bavaria or on the island of Ré, each chosen example shows a different facet of the decorator's talent, his classicism allowing him to adapt just as well to the industrial heritage of Manhattan as to the wild landscapes of the Corsican or Galician coasts.
