This book is dedicated to the ceramist Maurice Dhomme (1882-1975), who learned the pottery trade from Auguste Delaherche.

After the First World War, Dhomme took part in the construction of the Saint-Louis de Vincennes church, completed in 1924, then met with success at the Exposition des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes in Paris in 1925 for the porch of the French Village church. Close to the Ateliers d'Art Sacré, he carried out the spectacular decoration of churches rebuilt after the ravages of the First World War in the Somme and Aisne.

The ceramist also received private commissions for secular decorations; at the same time, he continued to produce vases and enamelled dishes, the interest of which was recognised by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which acquired two of his most beautiful works in 1921.
