This monograph is devoted to decorator and furniture designer René Prou (1889-1947), central figure or Art Déco movement along with Ruhlmann, Leleu, Dunand, Subes or Brandt.
Consecrated by public and private commissions, Prou's talent shows itself in various ways: decoration of steamships - Cuba (1923), Lafayette (1928), Paris (1929) - and of the Palais des Nations in Geneva, installation of Orient-Express sleeping cars or furnishing of Mitshubishi shops in Tokyo. His style rejuvenates and simplifies Art Deco shapes while preserving their harmony, comfort and a certain idea of luxury.
