On 6 and 7 November 2021, the international symposium "Watteau's Universe" was held in Paris. These two days of conferences at the Petit Palais were intended to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the death of Antoine Watteau (1684-1721).
Organised around four themes - Watteau's youth, his artistic entourage, the involvement of his work in a wider cultural context and his posterity - this book records the twenty-five papers given by the participants in their original language and richly illustrated. The iconography gives pride of place to unpublished or recently rediscovered works.
