During his life, sculptor Claude Mercier (1924-2019) made two decisive encounters: Henry Moore in the 1950s and Alberto Giacometti who encouraged him in his art. But as admirative he was of the great sculptors, he chose a very personal way, the one of "metal artisan", becoming part of a pioneering but difficult movement, exploring this material from figurative to abstract.
This catalogue raisonné inventories Claude Mercier's works from 1949 to 2017, metal sculptures, jewels and applied arts.
