Alberto Giacometti : L'homme Qui Marche
Auteur(s) : Catherine Grenier, Vincent Blanchard, Frank Joubin
With "L'homme qui marche", Giacometti concentrated the evocative power of his work and embodied the most important aspiration of his time: to humanize the world, history and art. This richly illustrated book tells the story of this work, one of the most famous of the 20th century. The genealogy of the motif is traced, from the Woman Walking of the Surrealist period, to the icons created in 1959-1960. Unpublished texts recall the fortune of the motif since antiquity and document Giacometti's creative process from one variation to another.
Exhibition, Paris, Institut Giacometti, from July 4 to November 29, 2020
