Alicia Penalba : Vers L'envol
Auteur(s) : Frédérick Aubourg
The work of Alicia Penalba (1913-1982), an Argentinean sculptor of international renown, abruptly fell into obscurity after the artist's death. After moving to France in 1948, Alicia Penalba worked for three years at the Grande Chaumière in Zadkine's studio while studying the work of Pevsner and Brancusi. From 1951 onwards, she devoted herself exclusively to abstract sculpture, in which air and light are the main threads of her artistic research.
This monograph pays tribute to this artist whose works are kept in most of the major international museums, including the Centre Pompidou, the Fondation Gianadda and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
