Annette Messager : Échos exquis

Auteur(s) : Collectif
Exhibition during the Arles Drawing Festival, 12 April - 11 May 2025
Visual artist Annette Messager (1943-) belongs to a generation of artists who have been renewing artistic language since the 1970s. Without taking a declarative stance, she asserts her dual identity as a woman and an artist.
In the manner of an exquisite cadaver, the contributors to this book link together, like a red thread, some one hundred drawings by Annette Messager produced over the last five years. These contributions are guided by a list of key words, such as ‘desire’, “quarrel” or ‘voluptuousness’, chosen by the artist and which, according to her, are the source of her work. The book also includes two short unpublished texts by the artist and an introductory text by the exhibition curator, Aline Pujo.
