Arman : 1975-2005

Nouveauté

Auteur(s) : Chiara Spangaro (dir.)

This book, produced by Studio Celant in collaboration with the Arman Archives in New York, presents the research and artistic production of the last thirty years of Arman's life (1928–2005). It follows on from and complements the monograph Arman 1954–1974, tracing the Franco-American artist's career and work: it analyses the evolution of his practice and the tenacious renewal of the series he conceived, such as New Accumulations, Shooting Colours, Dirty Painting, Atlantis, Accumulations de collections, Emersions and Sandwich Combos.

Essays explore specific aspects of Arman's work, such as his actions, his global approach, his monumental expansion and his influence on subsequent generations of artists. An illustrated chronology devoted to Arman's professional and personal life highlights the creative events, exhibitions and works that marked the last thirty years of his artistic career, as well as their critical reception, placing them in their historical and artistic context.
