This catalogue of the retrospective organised on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Balthus (1908-2001) brings together the painter's main masterpieces from public and private collections in Europe and the United States, including the one held by the artist's family.

The book is an invitation to explore the themes and the different periods of the work: portraits, landscapes, nymphs, etc.
