Over the past two decades, the Pinault Collection, which comprises more than 10,000 works, has been revealed to the public through exhibitions presented in its museums and within the walls of partner institutions.

This book offers a new perspective on the collection, not from the angle of an exhibition catalogue, but through a selection of more than a hundred masterpieces. It takes a look at the diversity of the Pinault Collection, from its video installations to its paintings and sculptures, while offering a possible history of art over the last sixty years. Taking as its starting point a work by Lucio Fontana dating from 1958, this publication offers a chronological overview, with each work accompanied by a short note written by international specialists. From Georg Baselitz to Maurizio Cattelan, Urs Fischer, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Dan Flavin and David Hammons, this body of work presents a diverse panorama and reflects the richness of contemporary creation.
