Exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris, 10 December 2025 – 15 March 2026
This exhibition catalogue is devoted to the work of contemporary artist Eva Jospin (1975-), characterised by representations of forests and architectural landscapes explored through various media. In addition to the works presented at the Grand Palais exhibition, her latest major projects are also featured.
The title of the book, Grottesco, refers to a legend: that of a young Roman who accidentally fell into a forgotten cave where he discovered magnificent frescoes underground. It was only later that these remains were recognised as Nero's Domus Aurea, which had been buried for centuries. From this palace, which resembled a cave, the ‘grotesque’ was born — a style in which the vegetal, the architectural and the fantastical intertwine in a rich imagination. Eva Jospin draws on this thread to weave her own world.
