Founded by Franco Maria Ricci (FMR) in Italy in 1982, FMR is the art magazine par excellence, a treasure trove for insiders and a reference point in the formation of personal taste for half a century. Ricci transcended the boundaries of art, architecture and design, and his unprecedented magazine enjoyed undeniable success. Its British, French, Spanish and Italian editions combined made it the largest art magazine in the world at its peak. FMR is appreciated by curators and gallery owners around the world for its presentation of daring works of art of all kinds and for contributions from some of the world's greatest writers. Discontinued in 2009, the quarterly publication was relaunched in 2021.

This book offers an anthology that traces the more than 40-year history of the Italian magazine that taught the world to see art. Richly illustrated, it contains introductions and captions that illustrate the history of the black-background magazine, which continues to be read internationally by discerning readers and art lovers, leading the growing comeback of luxury print publications.
