Frans Pourbus the Young was the most famous princes' portraitist in the early 17th century. In France, Henri IV, Marie de Médicis and the young Louis XIII are mainly known through his paintings.
The career of the artist, active in Flanders, Italy, in the Holy Roman Empire, then in the French court, gives a gripping idea of prince's Europe of his time and places him in the Habsburg, Medici and Bourbon connections.
This book, first to be devoted to the painter, presents his whole identified work, including several unpublished paintings.
