This catalogue is dedicated to the large-scale tapestry installation created in tribute to George Sand (1804–1876) to mark the 150th anniversary of her death. Initiated by the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, this public commission was entrusted to the French artist Françoise Pétrovitch (1964–). The weaving, which began in the spring of 2024, was carried out by La Manufacture Robert Four in Aubusson.

A fruitful dialogue between two female creators separated by 150 years, this catalogue traces the creation of the work, from the initial design to the weaving process, which required over 8,000 hours of labour. The result of an ongoing dialogue between Françoise Pétrovitch and the craftswomen, shaped by the centuries-old expertise of Aubusson tapestry, it reveals here all the dimensions of this monumental work, measuring 23 metres in length.
