Istanbul-Montparnasse : Les Peintres Turcs De L'école De Paris
Auteur(s) : Clotilde Scordia
At the end of the Second World War, Paris was the city of the arts, where artists from all over the world converged to participate to the Nouvelle Ecole de Paris. All nationalities were represented, including the Turks. Paris discovered them thanks to two exhibitions, one of which was the Unesco International Exhibition and the second was held at the Musée Cernuschi where critics noted the "vitality of modern Turkish art".
This volume traces the career of eleven Turkish artists - Fahrelnissa Zeid, Fikret Moualla, Hakkı Anlı, Abidin Dino, Selim Turan, Avni Arbaş, Nejad Devrim, Mübin Orhon, Tiraje Dikmen, Remzi Raşa and Albert Bitran - between 1930 and 1960.
