Jardins remarquables

The "Jardin remarquable" (‘’Outstanding Garden‘’) label, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, distinguishes gardens and parks of cultural, aesthetic, historical or botanical interest. This state label, awarded for five years and renewable, meets exacting quality criteria.

This book presents 32 gardens - historical, botanical, kitchen gardens, orchards or artists' gardens - in France and Belgium, illustrating the richness and diversity of the label. It offers a sensitive and well-documented walk through the history of the site, describing the species, meeting the gardeners and contemplating these exceptional places.
