Jean Royère
Auteur(s) : Jacques Lacoste, Patrick Seguin
This two-volume monograph is devoted to the French self-taught decorator Jean Royère (1902-1981), one of the leading figures of French design from his first project, in 1931, to his retirement in 1972. During these four decades, Royère participated to the worldwide shift towards modernity, from the pre-war years to the economic boom. His original style, combining bright colours, organic shapes and precious materials earned him an immediate and international success.
The first volume examines in pictures the great themes that guided Royère's creation, as plants, animals or fantasy, and the second one presents an extensive corpus of sketches and an illustrated and exhaustive index of all his furniture.
