The opening of the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection is a real event in the world of contemporary art. It was born of François Pinault's desire to invest in a place that was tailored to his collection, and whose architecture has been carefully restored and redesigned by Tadao Ando. The Japanese architect reinvented the Bourse de Commerce by bringing it into the 21st century, shaping this unique place into a showcase where ancient and modern materials coexist.
This book retraces the adventure of this place, from the origins of its construction to the present day, and presents sketches, archive documents, photos of the different stages of the work and views in situ, in order to grasp its new function, that of a museum, for which Tadao Ando's contemporary eye has been able - while paying homage to it - to enhance its forms and volumes.
