This book presents for the first time the personal collection of Dior designs assembled over decades by fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa (1935–2017) – pieces by Christian Dior and the artistic directors who followed him at the helm of the House.
The collection is analysed through chapters devoted to the elements that aroused Alaïa's curiosity: the construction of the dresses, the multitude of colour tones and textures of the fabrics and materials, and the poetry of the names of Dior's creations. Illustrated with photographs of dresses, archival images, drawings by Christian Dior, and collection graphics detailing fabric samples and sketches, this book offers a fresh look at Alaïa's influences and the history of Dior.
