L’art du XXe siècle autrement : les écrits de Jacques Thuillier, vol. 7

Nouveauté

Auteur(s) : Jacques Thuillier, Serge Lemoine (dir.)

A scholar and humanist, Jacques Thuillier (1928–2011) was one of France's most brilliant art historians. The collection Les écrits de Jacques Thuillier aims to make the essential works of this great art historian accessible to the public, bringing together famous, unpublished, scattered or hard-to-find texts. Six volumes have been published, the first in 2014. They focus mainly on 17th-century French painting, Poussin and the Le Nain brothers, but also on the 19th century.

This seventh volume contains his writings on 20th-century art, which reveal the originality of his vision and the interest with which he regarded the creative work of his time, especially as he was himself a keen amateur painter and draughtsman. All of the writings in this volume have been compiled by Serge Lemoine, former professor emeritus at the Sorbonne and former president of the Musée d'Orsay.
