Le domaine du Rayol

This book is devoted to the Domaine du Rayol, located at the foot of the Massif des Maures in the Var department. Purchased in 1989 by the Conservatoire du littoral, it covers 20 hectares of land and 14 hectares of protected marine area in a site of exceptional beauty. 

Landscape architect Gilles Clément recreated a series of gardens evoking the different Mediterranean landscapes of the world, as well as  other "guest" landscapes. Far from being a botanical collection, the plants are combined in such a way as to recreate miniature landscapes of wild beauty, ever-changing and beautiful in every season.
