Monet : Les Nymphéas Grandeur Nature

Auteur(s) : Michel Draguet

Large format book (300*450mm) with 36 folders (maximum length 1.15m)

From 1899 until his death in 1926, Claude Monet never stopped tracking down the play of transparency and reverberation in the "waterscapes" offered by his Japanese garden in Giverny. The central theme is the water lilies, studied from the riverbank or from the Japanese bridge, but the real subject remains the fusion of sky and water, the transparency of the backgrounds, the reverberation of the surfaces, the brilliance of the flowers.

This luxurious book offers 36 folders which, when opened, allow the reproduction of some fifty details of the water lily paintings at actual size, thus inviting the reader to a true visual journey to the heart of the master's work. Michel Draguet, Director General of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, traces the history of the garden and of this immense pictorial production.
