Des chefs-d'oeuvre de la collection Renault aux artistes d'aujourd'hui

Auteur(s) : Cecilia Alemani (dir.)

Inaugural exhibition at Le Large, Boulogne-Billancourt, 17 October 2026 – 7 March 2027

In October 2026, Le Large – the new contemporary art venue in western Paris, built at the tip of Île Seguin, where the Renault factories once stood – will open its doors. For the inaugural exhibition, the decision was made to revisit Renault’s extraordinary ambition: in the late 1960s, the company invited artists such as Arman, Dubuffet, Tinguely and Vasarely to work within the factory itself. Today, in a completely redesigned space, these works engage in dialogue with those of contemporary artists such as Mohamed Bourouissa, Clément Cogitore, Sarah Cwynar and Neïl Beloufa.

Bringing together over a hundred works created between the 1930s and the present day, this exhibition catalogue features 55 artists from 23 countries, nearly half of whom live or work in France. It takes the unique history of Île Seguin as its starting point and explores the links between artistic creation, industry, innovation and society. Through a dialogue between historical works from the Renault Fund for Art and Culture collection and contemporary creations, the catalogue examines the major transformations of the modern world and the ways in which artists engage with them.
