A founding member of the New Realists, alongside Arman, Tinguely and Klein, among others, and celebrated in the 1960s for having invented Pop Art at least as much as the Americans, Martial Raysse (1936-) decided to turn to painting in the early 1970s.

This reference monograph studies the artist's pictorial practice from 1957 to the 2010s as well as the numerous metamorphoses of a painting that has crystallized the issues of the eras it has traversed.
