Picasso: Tête-à-Tête
Auteur(s) : Larry Gagosian, Paloma Picasso, Peter Doig
Exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery, New York, 18 April – 3 July 2025
Drawing largely from the Picasso estate, this exhibition catalogue brings together more than sixty rarely exhibited paintings, sculptures and drawings spanning the Spanish artist's entire career, from 1896 to 1972. Inspired by the achronological approach adopted by Picasso for his first retrospective in 1932, it brings together works from different decades, encouraging viewers to discover new personal connections and continuities.
Fully illustrated with colour plates, including numerous photographs of the installation, the book reproduces all the works in the exhibition as well as details and archival images of the artist and his studios. It includes a conversation between Paloma Picasso and artist Peter Doig on the inspiration behind the exhibition and a translation of a 1932 conversation between Picasso and publisher and art critic Tériade.
