It is complemented by three essays written by professionals specialising in different fields: art historian Jerome Feldman, who studies the common stylistic links between the arts of South-East Asia and Oceania; art journalist Philippe Bourgoin, who studies the relationship between South-East Asian art and 20th-century avant-garde artists; and archaeologist Wil Roebroeks, who explains in detail the discovery of rock art in Maros, Sulawesi, dating back 45,000 years, making it the oldest artistic expression of humanity in art history.
