Tavares Strachan

Tavares Strachan (1979–) is undoubtedly one of the most significant artists of our time. His wide-ranging practice offers unique perspectives on a broad spectrum of pressing social and political issues: archaeology, history, geography, music, science and extreme climatology are just some of the subjects he has explored to create allegorical exhibitions that address colonialism and cultural displacement, human aspirations, the limits of the human condition and the space race.

Strachan’s projects, the result of in-depth research, are often monumental in scale and scope. Carried out in collaboration with thought leaders and organisations from a wide range of fields, his projects also have considerable impact: *The First Supper*, Strachan’s imposing sculpture exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, was one of the most popular works of art of 2024. In Nassau, his hometown, Strachan founded the scientific research platform BASEC (Bahamas Aerospace and Sea Exploration Centre).
