Tiffany Silver: the Peter Marino collection
Auteur(s) : Peter Marino
For over 180 years, Tiffany & Co. has been synonymous with the art of silversmithing, leaving an indelible mark on American decorative arts.
This book presents, for the first time, architect Peter Marino’s personal collection: plates adorned with decorative motifs, jugs, sugar bowls, trophies, trays and other intricately designed objects that bear witness to the consummate skill of Tiffany’s craftsmen. Golden butterflies and dragonflies flit across hammered silver surfaces, whilst fish swim amongst delicately engraved seaweed and irises in mixed metals bloom in full splendour.
It includes over 130 unique pieces, as well as original drawings from the Tiffany archives and an introduction that places Peter Marino’s collection within the broader context of Tiffany’s history, as well as that of American decorative arts in general.
