Van Cleef & Arpels: High Jewelry x Masterpieces from the MAK Collection
Auteur(s) : Lilli Hollein (dir.)
Exhibition at the MAK, Vienna, 10 June – 27 September 2026
In this catalogue accompanying the exhibition organised in collaboration with Van Cleef & Arpels, unique and rarely exhibited objects from all sections of the MAK’s collection enter into dialogue with the jewellery art spanning the 120-year history of the Parisian house, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and visionary ideas.
The pieces from the MAK’s collection – ranging from medieval textiles to creations by the Wiener Werkstätte – engage in a dialogue with Van Cleef & Arpels’ heritage collection. The approximately 500 selected objects – of which more than 300 come from the Van Cleef & Arpels collection and over 200 from the MAK’s collection – reveal surprising parallels in terms of form, colour and motifs, which often stem from similar sources of inspiration.
