Exhibition at the MoMA, New York, 12 September - 31 December 2022
An incisive observer and creator of dazzling images, Wolfgang Tillmans (1968-) has been experimenting for more than three decades with what it means to engage with the world through photography. Ecstatic images of nightlife or abstract images made without a camera, delicate portraits or architectural slide projections, documents of social movements or still lifes on a windowsill, astronomical phenomena or intimate nudes: Wolfgang Tillmans has explored all photographic genres, constantly experimenting with new ways of creating images.
Presenting the full breadth and depth of the artist's career, this exhibition catalogue invites us to discover the German photographer's way of seeing and perceiving the environment. With over 300 portraits, landscapes and abstract chemical experiments, the book reveals the full range of Tillmans's creative output to date.
