An iconic figure of Art Nouveau during the Belle Époque, Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) is renowned for his style characterised by sinuous lines, floral motifs and idealised depictions of women. The Czech artist had a profound influence on the visual identity of the turn of the 20th century, particularly through his Parisian advertising posters.

This exhibition catalogue offers an exploration of Mucha’s artistic career. It brings together major works, from theatre posters designed for Sarah Bernhardt to decorative panels, as well as jewellery designs and graphic works. Through a wealth of illustrations, the book analyses the artist’s technical development, the impact of his commercial collaborations and the spiritual underpinnings of his graphic compositions.
