Auteur(s) : Mathieu Lehanneur

Straddling the boundaries between art and science, Mathieu Lehanneur’s (1974–) practice encompasses the fields of design, architecture, product design and technology. From his studio, nicknamed ‘The Factory’, located near Paris, the artist conceives and realises a fascinating range of projects, including an award-winning air filter, a river aquarium, a permanent installation at the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, the choir of the Church of Saint-Hilaire, and the torch and cauldron for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

This first monograph dedicated to Lehanneur traces 25 years of his practice and reveals his design philosophy through ten chapters organised around the defining ‘principles’ of his work. It presents 80 projects, offering a unique insight into the conceptual and aesthetic approach characteristic of the French designer. The book is richly illustrated with images – some of which have never been published before – including preliminary studies, sources of inspiration, details of his creations and his manufacturing processes.
